Focussing CCTV cameras
With support from the Home Office, Process Evolution undertook a project in North East Lincolnshire to help align the use of CCTV cameras with community safety goals of the local Community Safety Partnership. A key element of the work was understanding the effectiveness of current use of CCTV systems across the police, council and private sector organisations. Incident Analyser played a key role by enabling current camera locations to be mapped against crime and incidents. Spencer Hunt added, “Now that we have mapped all of the cameras we have been able to compare the locations of the cameras against the locations of crimes and incidents. This information has enabled us to align our resources to demand by identifying cameras that were wrongly deployed and identify areas that required camera deployment. This has significantly increased our proactivity.” Spencer Hunt,Safer Communities Service Manger, NE Lincolnshire Council
