How do HMICFRS judgements compare across the different areas of Policing?
In November HMICFRS published the first tranche of their PEEL 2021/22 Inspections of Police Forces within England and Wales. This encapsulated the findings from the inspection reports for Durham Constabulary, Gloucestershire Constabulary, West Midlands and West Yorkshire Police on their effectiveness, efficiency, and legitimacy.
The radar chart visual below shows the breakdown of the Policing areas for each Force graded as either Outstanding, Good, Adequate, Requires Improvement or Inadequate. Using the Forces to compare filter allows for comparisons between Forces, which will change the view. Hovering over the Treatment of the Public line below shows West Yorkshire as being Outstanding, while this area within Northants has been judged as Requires Improvement.
The radar chart visual gives a quick and easy way of comparing across different Police Forces, particularly when there are such a variety of Policing Areas in which Forces are assessed on.
We will update this chart in the future as further tranches of PEEL assessments are published.
